LITTLE ROCK (1-30) – Pavement research will require alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures on Highway 270 in Garland County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Work will require roving closures of the eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 270 within the work zone. The contractor will be taking core samples from Highway 270 between Treasure Isle Road and Highway 227. The closures will be Tuesday, February 3 through Thursday, February 5, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

The closures will begin on the westbound lane at Highway 227 and continue westward to Treasure Isle Road. Once testing is complete on the westbound lane, the contractor will perform work on the eastbound lane.

This project is necessary preparation for the proposed future widening of Highway 270 between Highway 227 and the Ouachita River. It is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program. More information on this project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
