LITTLE ROCK (4-10) – Improvements to Highway 270 (Albert Pike Road) will require lane closures in Hot Springs, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will test pavement in preparation to widen 3.4 miles of Highway 270 (Albert Pike Road) to 4 lanes between Highway 227 and the Ouachita River. It will be 5 lanes and include bike lanes between Black Snake Road and Highway 227. The pavement testing will alternately reduce eastbound or westbound traffic to one lane within the work zone.

The lane closure will occur Monday, April 13th through Wednesday, April 15th between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., each day, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using, flaggers, barrels, and warning signs.

This project is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and is expected to be complete in early 2018. More information on this project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
