BENTON COUNTY (09-26) – Bridge construction associated with the new U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass in Springdale requires street and pedestrian/biking trail width reductions where the new bypass crosses local roads in Springdale and Lowell, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Wednesday, September 28 and continuing into summer 2017, lane widths on Silent Grove Road and Goad Springs Street will be reduced to allow the Razorback Greenway to shift onto the roadway surface. The trail width will also be restricted within the construction area. Barrier walls will be placed on both sides of the trail to protect users.

Message signs will be placed at each end of the construction zone to inform trail users, and advance warning signs will be placed to notify traffic approaching the work zone. The public is advised to be cautious if traveling in this work zone.

This project (Job CA0907) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and constructs approximately 4 miles of the new four-lane U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass, which extends from Interstate 49 to State Highway 112. The U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass project will provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale Metropolitan Area. More information on this $100.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
