BENTON COUNTY (7-17) – Crews placing bridge beams over Interstate 49 will require closing all southbound lanes for multiple 15-minute periods in Benton County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Weather permitting; workers will close all southbound lanes of I-49 for 15-minute intervals between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. beginning Wednesday night, July 19. Lanes will be closed between Wagon Wheel Road (Exit 76) in Springdale and State Highway 264 (Exit 78) in Lowell. Traffic control will be handled by the Arkansas State Police.

  • Wednesday night, July 19 through Saturday morning, July 22
  • Monday night, July 24 through Saturday morning, July 29

Advance warning signs will be placed to notify traffic approaching the closure. The public is advised to be cautious if traveling in this work zone and are encouraged to find alternative routes to avoid the interstate closure. Traffic will be stopped prior to the exits to allow vehicles to exit.
