BENTON COUNTY (7-21) – Crews removing a temporary barrier wall along Interstate 49 will require overnight lane closures in Benton County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Monday night, July 24, crews will remove the barrier wall along the northbound outside lane in Springdale and Lowell. The outside lane will be closed between Exits 76 and 78 to allow for the work. Traffic will be controlled using signage and traffic barrels.

The overnight lane closures will occur Monday night, July 24 through Saturday morning, July 29, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.

This project (Job CA0907) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and constructs approximately 4 miles of the new four-lane U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass, which extends from Interstate 49 to State Highway 112. The U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass project will provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale Metropolitan Area. More information on this $100.6 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
