BENTON COUNTY (10-13) – Crews constructing future U.S. Highway 412 ramps will require lane closures on Interstate 49, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) officials.

Beginning Monday, October 16, lanes on I-49 will be closed between Wagon Wheel Road (Exit 76) in Springdale and State Highway 264 (Exit 78) in Lowell. The inside and outside lanes of northbound and southbound I-49 will alternately be closed to allow the contractor to remove bridge safety platforms. One lane direction will be closed at a time, and if required, workers will close all lanes for 15-minute intervals. Weather permitting, the lane closures will occur Monday, October 16 through Tuesday, October 31, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

This project (Job CA0907) is part of ArDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program. The contractor is constructing approximately four miles of the new four-lane U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass, which extends from Interstate 49 to State Highway 112. The project is expected to be completed mid-2018 and will provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale Metropolitan Area.
