BENTON COUNTY (4-24) – Construction on the Bella Vista Bypass (Highway 549/Future Interstate 49) will require lane closures at the Bella Vista Bypass in Bentonville, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Beginning Wednesday, April 26, crews will be placing final asphalt surface on the Bella Vista Bypass roundabout and approach ramps at the intersection with I-49, U.S. Highway 71 and U.S. Highway 71B (North Walton Boulevard). Lanes will alternately be closed from the I-49 southbound exit ramp to North Walton Boulevard (Exit 93) to about 0.5 miles south of I-49 on North Walton Boulevard. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, however motorists should anticipate traffic stops for 15-minute intervals at some ramp locations. Mainline I-49 traffic will not be affected.
The lane closures will be in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the following days, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using signage, flaggers and traffic barrels.
- Wednesday, April 26 through Saturday, April 29
- Monday, May 1 through Wednesday, May 3
This project is constructing approximately 6 miles of the bypass, extending from
Highway 71B to Highway 72 South. The project involves the initial two lanes of a four-lane facility. The project is part of the Connecting Arkansas Program (CAP), which is funded through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. More information is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
