PULASKI & LONOKE COUNTIES (03-29) – Construction to widen U.S. Highway 67 between Jacksonville and Cabot requires northbound and southbound lane closures, including 15-minute all-lane closures, in Pulaski and Lonoke counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, northbound and southbound lanes on U.S. Highway 67 will periodically be closed between Vandenberg Boulevard and State Highway 5 to perform pavement striping, pour concrete, and hang overhead signs. The overhead sign installation will require all traffic in one direction to be stopped for 15-minute intervals. These nighttime lane closures will occur Sunday, March 31 through Saturday, April 6.
- Southbound traffic will be reduced to one open lane on various nights between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The inside and outside lanes will alternately be closed, and there will be 15-minute periods when both lanes are closed to hang overhead signs.
- Northbound traffic will be reduced to one open lane on various nights between
8:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. the following afternoon. The inside and outside lanes will alternately be closed, and there will be 15-minute periods when both lanes are closed to hang overhead signs.
Traffic will be controlled with construction barrels and signage, with assistance from the Arkansas State Police. Advance warning signs will be placed to notify traffic approaching the closures. The public is advised to be cautious if traveling in this work zone and are encouraged to find alternative routes to avoid the highway closure.
This project (Job CA0605) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 4.6 miles of U.S. Highway 67 from Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville to State Highway 5 in Cabot. The highway is being widened to three lanes in each direction. More information on this $79.2 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
