GARLAND AND SALINE COUNTIES (4-26) – Asphalt work and erosion control along U.S. Highway 70 requires limited lane closures in Garland and Saline counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, the outside lane and shoulder of Highway 70 will be closed in isolated areas between Interstate 30 and the Hot Springs Bypass. Crews will perform asphalt work on adjacent side roads and erosion control in select areas along the highway. These area-specific lane closures will be in affect at various times between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., on weekdays beginning Tuesday, April 30 and continuing through Friday, May 17.
Traffic will be controlled by signage, barrels, and flagging operations. Crews will work to limit the impact to any increased traffic using U.S. Highway 70 during the Oaklawn Racing Season.
This project (Job CA0610) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program that widened 17.5 miles of U.S. Highway 70 to four travel lanes and a continuous center turn lane. More information on this project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
