BENTON COUNTY (8-11) – Construction work on I-49 in Rogers and Bentonville requires overnight lane closures on I-49, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Sunday night, August 14, crews will remove existing pavement markings, install a temporary barrier wall and restripe pavement on northbound and southbound lanes of I-49 between Highway 62/102 (Exit 86) and Southeast Walton Boulevard (Exit 85). The inside and outside lanes of I-49 between mile markers 84 and 88 will alternately be closed during this time period to allow for construction.

The overnight lane closures will occur nightly starting on Sunday, August 14 and ending Thursday, August 25, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels.

Northbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Southbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

This project (Job CA0902) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 3.5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 62/102 to Highway 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes from Highway 62/102 toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. More information on this $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
