BENTON COUNTY (9-9) – Construction work to widen I-49 in Rogers requires work within the pedestrian/biking trails near three I-49 intersections, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

On Monday, September 12, and Monday, September 19, temporary detours will be in place directing the public around the construction zone at specific sections of the Razorback Greenway and Blossom Way trails. These detours will be in place for at least
60 days. The portions of the trail impacted by the construction will not be open for public use. The temporary detours are needed for substructure bridge work in areas adjacent to the trails.

  • On Monday, September 12, a section of the Blossom Way trail is detoured north of the Pleasant Grove Road interchange (Exit 81). The closed section is east of South 28th Place and west of South 26th Street. The detour utilizes Razorback Greenway, West Pleasant Grove Road, South 26th Place and South 26th Street.
  • On Monday, September 12, a section of the Razorback Greenway is detoured at West Pauline Whitaker Parkway/Promenade Boulevard (Exit 82). The closed section is east of West Pauline Whitaker Parkway and west of South Bellview Road. The detour utilizes South 26th Street, West Ajax Avenue, South Bellview Road, South Promenade Boulevard, and South Rife Medical Lane. The detour will be shortened in the near future when work is completed on the South Bellview Road bridge.
  • On Monday, September 19, a section of the Razorback Greenway is closed at New Hope Road (Exit 83). The closed section is north of New Hope Road below I-49. The detour utilizes the sidewalk to the south of New Hope Road.

This project (Job CA0901) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers. More information on this $38.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
