BENTON COUNTY (12-2) – Construction work on I-49 in Rogers and Lowell requires overnight lane closures, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Beginning Monday evening, December 5, crews will be removing and relocating concrete barrier walls on I-49 from West Monroe Avenue / State Highway 264 (Exit 78) to Pleasant Grove Road (Exit 81). The inside and outside lanes will alternately be closed during this time period to allow for construction.
The lane closures will occur nightly starting on Monday, December 5 and ending Thursday morning, December 8, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels.
Northbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Southbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
This project (Job CA0901) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers, and it is expected to complete in late 2017. More information on this $38.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
