BENTON COUNTY (03-10) – Construction work on I-49 in Rogers and Lowell requires overnight lane closures, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Monday night, March 13, crews will be removing concrete barrier walls on northbound and southbound I-49. The inside lanes will be closed from West Monroe Avenue/State Highway 264 (Exit 78) to New Hope Road (Exit 83) during this time period to allow for construction.

The closures will occur weeknights starting on Monday, March 13 and ending Saturday morning, March 25, weather permitting. The northbound inside lane will be closed first, and upon completion, crews will switch to the southbound lane. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels.

  • Northbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Southbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

This project (Job CA0901) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from
Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers, and it is expected to complete in
late 2017. More information on this $38.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
