BENTON COUNTY (4-21) – Construction on Interstate 49 in Bentonville and Rogers requires overnight lane closures on I-49, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Beginning Sunday night, April 23, crews will be performing bridge construction on I-49 that requires closures on northbound and southbound lanes. The outside lanes will alternately be closed between Southeast Walton Boulevard/West Walnut Street (Exit 85) and East Central Avenue (Exit 88) for construction. Traffic will be controlled using signage and traffic barrels.
The overnight lane closures will occur Sunday, April 23 through Friday, April 28, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.
This project (Job CA0902) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 3.5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 62/102 to Highway 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes from Highway 62/102 toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. Construction is expected to complete in late 2017. More information on this $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
