BENTON COUNTY (6-22) – Construction work on Interstate 49 in Bentonville and Rogers requires overnight lane closures on I-49, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Continuing Friday night, June 23, crews will remove the barrier wall along the inside lanes of northbound and southbound I-49. The inside lanes will be closed between Southeast Walton Boulevard (Exit 85) and Central Avenue/State Highway 72 (Exit 88) to allow for construction. Traffic will be controlled using signage and traffic barrels.

The lane closures will continue Friday night, June 23 through Friday night, June 30, between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.

This project (Job CA0902) is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 3.5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 62/102 to Highway 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes from Highway 62/102 toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. Construction is expected to complete in late 2017. More information on this $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
