BENTON COUNTY (8-3) – Construction on Interstate 49 in Bentonville requires daytime lane closures on State Highway 72, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Beginning Sunday night, August 6, crews will be performing roadway work on State Highway 72, which will require eastbound and westbound lanes to alternately be closed between McCollum Drive and Woods Creek Road. These closures will occur intermittently between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Sunday, August 6 through Saturday, August 26.
Traffic using the I-49 entrance and exit ramps at Exit 88 may be impacted during the closures. Traffic will be controlled with traffic barrels and flaggers.
This project (Job CA0902) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 3.5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 62/102 to Highway 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes from Highway 62/102 toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. More information on this $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
