BENTON COUNTY (11-3) – Construction work associated with widening Interstate 49 will require lane closures on U.S. Highway 62/State Highway 102 in Bentonville, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) officials.

Continuing Friday, November 3, eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 62/102 will alternately be closed between Phyllis Street and Southeast Eagle Way to allow for pavement and overpass construction. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during the closures.

Weather permitting, the lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., from Friday, November 3 through the end of the month. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and flaggers.

This project (Job CA0902) is part of ArDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 3.5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 62/102 to Highway 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes from Highway 62/102 toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. More information on this $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
