BENTON COUNTY (5-30) – Construction work on Interstate 49 in Bentonville and Rogers requires nighttime lane closures, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will be placing final striping and pavement markings on Interstate 49, U.S. Highway 62/102 and State Highway 72. On Interstate 49, northbound and southbound lanes will alternately be closed between U.S. Highway 62/102 (Exit 86) and Central Avenue/State Highway 72 (Exit 88). These closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Friday, June 1 through Saturday, June 9.
Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels. Flaggers will be used on the associated highway marking. The public is advised to be cautious if traveling in this work zone and are encouraged to find alternative routes to avoid the interstate closure.
This project (Job CA0902) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 3.5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 62/102 to Highway 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes from Highway 62/102 toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. More information on this $27.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
