PULASKI COUNTY (8-6) – Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires overnight lane closures on Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will reduce Rodney Parham Road to one open lane in each direction during overnight hours between Rushing Cir. and S Mississippi Ave. to allow the contractor to work on the I-630 overpass of Rodney Parham Road. The outside lanes in either direction will be closed nightly from Tuesday night, August 7 through Friday morning, August 10, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels, traffic barricades, and flaggers. If an additional night of work is needed, it will occur Sunday night, August 12. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zones.
This project (Job CA0608) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program, which is funded through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. Interstate 630 is being widened to four lanes in each direction (eight total) for 2.2 miles between the Big Rock Interchange and University Avenue. The widening is estimated to be complete in early 2020. More information on this $87.4 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
