Construction Requires Traffic Shift and Lane Closures on Interstate 630 in Little Rock

PULASKI COUNTY (6-27) – Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires overnight lane closures and an eastbound traffic shift in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, eastbound lanes on I-630 will shift onto newly constructed pavement during overnight hours Friday night, June 28 through Monday night July 1, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The inside and middle lanes of eastbound I-630 will be closed between Baptist Hospital Drive and University Avenue to move traffic to the new pavement, install concrete barriers and place temporary striping. In addition, the lane shifts will move traffic onto new pavement at the I-630 eastbound on-ramp at John Barrow Road and the eastbound on and off-ramps at Rodney Parham Road.
All lanes of eastbound traffic may be stopped for 15-minute intervals during this time to allow for the lane shifts. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone, and drivers may consider finding alternate routes as delays may occur. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels. Neighborhoods adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0608) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program, which is funded through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. Interstate 630 is being widened to four lanes in each direction (eight total) between the Big Rock Interchange and University Avenue.
