Construction Requires Traffic Shift and Lane Closures on Interstate 630 in Little Rock

PULASKI COUNTY (7-10) – Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires overnight lane closures and a westbound traffic shift in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, westbound lanes on I-630 will shift onto newly constructed pavement during overnight hours Friday night, July 12 through Monday morning, July 15, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The inside and middle lanes of westbound I-630 will be closed between University Avenue and Baptist Hospital Drive to shift traffic, install concrete barriers, place temporary striping, and perform maintenance work on median grates. In addition, the lane shifts will move traffic onto new pavement at the I-630 westbound off ramp at Rodney Parham Road.
All lanes of westbound traffic may be stopped for 15-minute intervals during this time to allow for the lane shifts. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone, and drivers may consider finding alternate routes as delays may occur. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels. Neighborhoods adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0608) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program, which is funded through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. Interstate 630 is being widened to four lanes in each direction (eight total) between the Big Rock Interchange and University Avenue.
