Arkansas Highway Commission Approves Bid for Improvements in Washington County

LITTLE ROCK (6-15) – The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to a roadway in Washington County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The purpose of the project is to widen 3.8 miles of Interstate 49. The work will extend north from Highway 71B to Highway 412.

APAC-Central, Inc. of Fayetteville, Arkansas was awarded the contract at $28,288,806.20.

This project is part of the 2012 Connecting Arkansas Program that is improving 180 miles of Arkansas' interstates.

Construction is scheduled begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should be complete in summer of 2017.
