BENTON COUNTY (4-9) – Crews constructing future U.S. Highway 412 will require lane closures on Interstate 49, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, the outside lanes of northbound and southbound I-49 will alternately be closed during daylight hours between mile markers 77 and 79 in Springdale and Lowell. These closures will occur Wednesday, April 11, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Construction crews will be placing final pavement striping for the U.S. Highway 412 bypass. The exit ramps to State Highway 264 (Exit 78) will remain open during the outside lane closure. Traffic will be controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs.

This project (Job CA0907) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program. The contractor is constructing approximately four miles of the new four-lane U.S. Highway 412 Northern Bypass, which extends from Interstate 49 to State Highway 112. The project is expected to be completed mid-2018 and will provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale Metropolitan Area.
