WASHINGTON COUNTY (2-23) – Maintenance work on three Interstate 49 bridges and overpasses in Johnson and Springdale requires nighttime lane closures, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will perform maintenance activities on bridges and overpasses at Clear Creek (south of Exit 69), Johnson Mill Boulevard (Exit 69), and U.S. Highway 412 (Exit 72). The inside and center lanes will be closed to perform the work at these locations. The northbound lanes will be closed first, and once the work is complete, crews will close the southbound lanes.

The overnight closures will be in effect Monday night, February 26 through Friday morning, March 2. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels. This work was previously scheduled for February 21 through February 24, but was rescheduled due to weather impacts.

  • Northbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Southbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
