PULASKI AND LONOKE COUNTIES (04-27) – Construction work to widen U.S. Highway 67 between Jacksonville and Cabot requires numerous lane closures according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, lanes on U.S. Highway 67 and the frontage road will require various intermittent closures between April 29 and May 12. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zones.
- U.S. Highway 67 Northbound
The outside lane of northbound U.S. Highway 67 will be closed from Vandenberg Boulevard to State Highway 5, reducing traffic to one open lane. The intermittent closure will occur during nighttime hours only. This closure will permit crews to remove concrete traffic barriers in preparation for a traffic switch. Traffic will be controlled by construction barrels and signage.
- Southbound U.S. Highway 67
The outside lane of southbound U.S. Highway 67 will be closed between Jacks Bayou and Vandenberg Boulevard, reducing traffic to one open lane. The intermittent closure will occur during nighttime hours only. This closure will permit crews to remove concrete traffic barriers in preparation for a traffic shift. Traffic will be controlled by construction barrels and signage.
- Northbound T.P. White Drive
Northbound traffic on T.P. White Drive between Vandenberg Boulevard and State Highway 5 will be reduced to one lane to permit crews to remove concrete traffic barriers in preparation for a traffic shift. The closure will occur during daytime and nighttime hours. Flaggers will manage traffic during the continuous three to four day closure.
- T.P. White Drive/2nd Street
The northbound and southbound lanes of T.P. White Drive/2nd Street will alternately be closed between Carrington Road and State Highway 5. The intermittent closures will occur during daytime hours only. These closures will permit crews to place asphalt and move barrier walls. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and traffic barrels.
- State Highway 5 On Ramp to Southbound U.S. Highway 67
Flaggers and traffic barrels will control traffic on the southbound U.S. Highway 67 on ramp at State Highway 5. The intermittent flagging operations will occur during daytime hours only. Crews will be milling and paving the on ramp.
This project (Job CA0605) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 4.6 miles of U.S. Highway 67 from Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville to State Highway 5 in Cabot. The highway is being widened to three lanes in each direction. More information on this $79.2 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. You can also follow us on Twitter @myARDOT.
