Overview

These projects contribute to the four-lane widening of Highway 425 and Highway 82 between Hamburg and the Louisiana state line. When complete, the additional lanes will increase capacity and improve traveler safety.

Job CA0201 Louisiana State Line – Highway 82

This project widened approximately 10 miles of Highway 425 to four lanes and a center paved median, extending generally from the Louisiana state line to Highway 82 in Ashley County.

    - Earthwork and drainage
    - Final surface and pavement markings

Updates:

  • Bid Opening
    Arkansas Department of Transportation opened contractor bids in September 2018. The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid for improvements by Diamond B Construction Company, awarding the project for $44.6 million.
  • Public Involvement
    A public involvement meeting was held August 2, 2016 at the Church of the Redeemer in Hamburg to present and discuss the proposed plans to widen Highway 425 from the Louisiana State Line to Highway 82. A flier, comment form, and map can be downloaded here.

Job CA0202 Highway 425 – Hamburg

This project widened approximately 5.5 miles of Highway 82 to four lanes, extending generally from Highway 425 to Hamburg in Ashley County.

    - Widened to 4 travel lanes with a painted center median
    - Intersection improved at State Highway 52 West and East
    - Constructed drainage structure
    - Earthwork and drainage
    - Final surface and pavement markings
    - Project substantially complete in July 2020

    Arkansas Department of Transportation opened contractor bids in September 2018. The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved a bid for improvements by JB James Construction, awarding the project for $26.7 million.
  • Public Involvement
    A public involvement meeting was held November 10, 2015. The meeting presented and discussed the proposed plans to widen Highway 82. A flier, comment form, and map can be downloaded here.
