PULASKI COUNTY (6-10) – Asphalt replacement will continue next week on the existing westbound lanes of I-40 requiring nightly lane closures in Pulaski County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

This work was previously scheduled for Monday, June 6, through Saturday, June 11, but was extended due to weather.

The work requires reducing westbound I-40 traffic to one lane between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. beginning Monday night, June 13 and ending Saturday morning, June 18, weather permitting. The overnight lane closure will be between Highway 365 (Exit 142) and mile marker 146 to allow the contractor to replace existing asphalt surface in the center and right lanes.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels, electronic message boards and advance warning signs.

This project is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening
5.1 miles of I-40 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends east from Highway 365 to Interstate 430. The project is anticipated to be complete in mid 2016. More information on this $38.4 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
