BENTON COUNTY (08-08) – Construction work on I-49 in Rogers and Lowell requires overnight lane closures on I-49, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Thursday morning, August 11, after 12:00 a.m., crews will remove existing pavement markings, install a temporary barrier wall and restripe pavement on northbound and southbound lanes of I-49 between Highway 264 (Exit 78) in Lowell and New Hope Road (Exit 83) in Rogers. The inside and outside lanes of I-49 will alternately be closed during this time period to allow for construction.

The overnight lane closures will occur nightly starting on Thursday, August 11 and ending Friday, August 26, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels.

Northbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Southbound I-49 lane closures will occur between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

This project is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening
5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers. More information on this $38.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
