LITTLE ROCK (10-27) After more than 400 people attended a 30 Crossing public meeting on October 22, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has extended the 15-day comment period to 45 days, according to Department officials.

The public meeting last Thursday provided the public with information on proposed improvements to Interstate 30 between I-40 and I-530, including the Arkansas River Bridge, as well as on I-40 between JFK Boulevard and U.S. Highway 67. Attendees had the opportunity to provide the AHTD with written comments at the meeting, and the comment period end date has moved to Sunday, December 6.

This was the fifth public meeting in a series of meetings the AHTD has held about 30 Crossing. The most recent meeting provided an update since a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study was completed and approved in July. Since then, the study team has further evaluated roadway, bridge and interchange concepts to widen I-30 to provide a downtown collector/distributor system, as well as evaluated an additional alternative to widen I-30 to 8 lanes.
