N. James Street Bridge Scheduled to Close for One Year
PULASKI COUNTY | October 16, 2023
NR #23-351
Construction to widen Highway 67 to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville requires the full closure of the N. James Street Bridge over Highway 67 for approximately one year beginning Monday, October 23.
Weather permitting, crews will close the N. James Street Bridge to demolish and reconstruct the overpass. Traffic on N. James Street will need to follow the signed detours around the closed bridge. See attached detour map NR 23-351-A for additional information.
N. James Street traffic detour:
- Traffic needing access to N. James Street (north of the bridge) may use Main Street, Marshall Road, and Gregory Street
- Traffic needing access to N. James Street (south of the bridge) may use Gregory Street, Marshall Road, and Main Street
In addition, the Highway 67 southbound N. James Street exit ramp (Exit 10A) will also be closed during this time. Highway 67 southbound traffic wishing to access N. James Street or John Harden Drive will need to follow the signed detours. See attached detour map NR 23-351-B for additional information. Highway 67 southbound Exit 10B (Gregory Street) and Exit 9 (Main Street) will remain open.
Highway 67 southbound N. James Street exit ramp (Exit 10A) traffic detour:
- Traffic needing access to John Harden and N. James Street (north of the bridge) may use Highway 67 Southbound Exit 10B (Gregory Street) and Gregory Street
- Traffic needing access to TP White Drive and N. James Street (south of the bridge) may use Highway 67 southbound Exit 10B (Gregory Street), Gregory Street, Marshall Road, and Main Street
Traffic will be controlled with traffic barriers, traffic drums signs, and message boards. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
