LITTLE ROCK (11-28) - A dedication ceremony has been scheduled to celebrate the completion of the first Connecting Arkansas Program (CAP) project, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
This event commemorates the project that completes the widening of I-40 from four lanes to six lanes from the I-30/I-40 Interchange in North Little Rock to Conway and will be attended by AHTD Director Scott Bennett, the Arkansas Highway Commission, local Legislators and other AHTD staff. The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30.
The event will take place on the Norman Road overpass above I-40. To access the area from I-40 take Crystal Hill Road north/east to Kelly Road, turn left and stay on that road until it turns into Norman Road at the overpass. A map is attached.
This project is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and included widening 5.1 miles of I-40 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends east from Highway 365 to Interstate 430. More information on this $38.4 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
