Arkansas Highway Commission Approves Bid for Improvements in Benton County

LITTLE ROCK (12-22) – The
Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Benton County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
The purpose of the project is to construct 4.5 miles of 4-lane divided roadway (Highway 412), including an interchange on Highway 112, just north of Marchant Road and Carrie Smith Road. The work will extend east from that location to a new interchange on Interstate 49 between Wagon Wheel Road and Highway 264. This work is the first section of the U.S. 412 Springdale Northern Bypass.
Eutaw Construction Company, Inc. of Aberdeen, Mississippi was awarded the contract at $100,620,381.24.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should take about 4 years to construct.
This project is part of the 2012 Connecting Arkansas Program that will improve 180 miles of Arkansas' roadways over ten years.
