PULASKI COUNTY (3-27) – A draft proposal to possibly install noise walls along U.S. Highway 67 in Jacksonville is being modified in response to public input received, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
A Neighborhood Noise Meeting was held on Thursday, March 9, to take comments on a possible noise walls that the Department was evaluating as part of the overall U.S. Highway 67 improvement project through Jacksonville. Noise walls were being evaluated in areas along the east side of U.S. Highway 67 between West Main Street & Gregory Street and on the west side of U.S. Highway 67 starting at 1st Street and continuing northwards until Evans Drive.
The Department has modified the proposed noise walls that are being evaluated by removing those portions of the noise walls that would block the visibility of commercial properties from U.S. Highway 67. These changes were made in response to comments that were received from local citizens, commercial property owners, and local officials.
The Department will continue to take comments on the remaining noise walls that are being evaluated in front of residential neighborhoods only and the Department's final decision on the remaining noise walls will be announced at a later date.
