New Lanes Open on Future U.S. Highway 412 Bypass in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY (4-27) – Approximately 4.5 miles of newly constructed lanes on the Future U.S. Highway 412 Bypass in Springdale will be opened to traffic, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, the completed four-lane, divided highway will open to traffic on Monday, April 30. The new east-west bypass connects Interstate 49 (between exits 76 and 78) to State Highway 112 and provides an alternate route in Springdale north of U.S. Highway 412 (Sunset Avenue).
Work began in February 2015 on this $100.6 million bypass, which is the largest single contract ever awarded by the Arkansas Highway Commission. The project included constructing 14 bridges, ramps and overpasses on a controlled-access highway with no exits between I-49 and U.S. Highway 112. Originally estimated to be complete by mid 2019, the project opened to traffic a year early.
