LITTLE ROCK (5-29) – Construction work to erect structural steel for the Interstate 430 north to Interstate 40 west bridge at the I-430/I-40 interchange will require overnight lane closures on I-40, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The work will require alternating closures of the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-40 between mile markers 147 and 148. The work will include short, intermittent stoppages of eastbound and westbound traffic while work is performed over the travel lanes.

The lane closure will begin Monday, June 1st and continue each night through the end of the week, weather permitting. The closures will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 am., with short traffic stops occurring intermittently between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Traffic will be controlled using, barrels, electronic message boards and warning signs.

This project is part of AHTD's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.1 miles of Interstate 40 to 3 lanes between Highway 365 and Interstate 430.
