LITTLE ROCK (8-8) – The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has announced that construction of the Bella Vista Bypass requires the closure of Faux Road (County Road 453) between Highway 72 and Deer Drive in Benton County. Weather permitting, the closure is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 13 and is estimated to last nine months.
The closure is necessary to begin bridge construction associated with constructing the next section of the Bella Vista Bypass (Highway 549/Future Interstate 49). The closure will terminate on each side of the new bypass, approximately 0.1 miles from Highway 72 and at the intersection of Faux Road and Deer Drive.
Detour signing will be in place. Traffic north of the construction can take Kings Lane to Highway 279 to Highway 72. Traffic south of the construction can take Deer Drive to Tanyard Hollow Road to Little Road to Highway 72.
This project is constructing approximately 6 miles of the bypass, extending from Highway 71B to Highway 72 South. The project involves the initial two lanes of a four-lane facility. The project is part of the Connecting Arkansas Program (CAP), which is funded through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. The CAP's 35 projects in 19 corridors are improving Arkansas' transportation system by expanding selected two-lane roadways to four-lane highways and adding new lanes to identified interstate highways.
