Construction Requires New Traffic Pattern at the Frontage Road and South Street Bridge in Benton

SALINE COUNTY | August 10, 2022
NR 22-190

Construction to widen Interstate 30 to six lanes in Saline County requires a traffic pattern change for the Interstate 30 frontage road (on the north side of the interstate) at the South Street Bridge in Benton.

Weather permitting, crews will re-open the frontage road below the bridge beginning Saturday, August 13 and remove the temporary detour to West Sevier Street. Westbound traffic will now continue along the frontage road below the bridge until reaching a stop sign with the option to turn left and continue on frontage road or turn right to access South Street and downtown Benton. This will allow construction crews to prepare for moving traffic into a new roundabout at this location later in the year.

This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov.
