BENTON COUNTY (9-7) – Five miles of newly constructed lanes on Interstate 49 in Rogers and Lowell is ready to be opened to traffic, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) officials.
Beginning Friday morning, September 8 at 6:00 a.m., the completed inside lanes for northbound and southbound I-49 between Exits 78 and 83 will be opened to traffic.
Crews are continuing to work in the inside shoulders and inside lane prior to this opening, and the public is encouraged to use caution in these areas. Traffic is controlled using traffic barrels and warning signs.
This project (Job CA0901) is part of ArDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program and included widening 5 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from State Highway 264 in Lowell to New Hope Road in Rogers. More information on this $38.7 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
