New Traffic Pattern and Weekend Detour Scheduled for Interstate 30 Westbound in Little Rock and North Little Rock: Phase 1 of I-30 Westbound Arkansas River Bridge Opening Begins Oct. 4

Opening a portion of the new Interstate 30 (I-30) westbound Arkansas River bridge will require a detour with significant traffic impacts over the weekend of October 4-7 in Little Rock and North Little Rock, weather permitting. This is the first of three phased traffic shifts planned in order to transition traffic onto the new river bridge and place traffic into its final alignment. Westbound traffic is encouraged to find an alternate route during the duration of the detour.

Opening a portion of the new Interstate 30 (I-30) westbound Arkansas River bridge will require a detour with significant traffic impacts over the weekend of October 4-7 in Little Rock and North Little Rock, weather permitting. This is the first of three phased traffic shifts planned in order to transition traffic onto the new river bridge and place traffic into its final alignment. Westbound traffic is encouraged to find an alternate route during the duration of the detour.

Construction on I-30 will require a closure of all westbound lanes with detours from 10 p.m., Friday, October 4 through 5 a.m., Monday, October 7. This work will not impact I-30 eastbound traffic.

Phase 1 Weekend Detour

The following detour will take place over the weekend of October 4-7:

  • I-30 westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and will be detoured onto the Broadway Street exit (Exit 141B) in North Little Rock to Cypress Street; the traffic signal at Broadway Street will be modified to allow a free flow of traffic off and on I-30 westbound; Broadway Street traffic will be detoured to Riverfront Drive and N Locust Street in North Little Rock
  • Traffic will then take the new Broadway Street on-ramp to return to I-30 westbound
  • Crossing the river bridge, I-30 westbound traffic will take the new downtown Little Rock exit to 4th Street (Exit 140)
  • I-30 westbound traffic will continue onto the southbound frontage road and use the 9th Street on-ramp to access I-30 westbound
  • Interstate 630 (I-630) westbound traffic will continue onto the southbound frontage road and use the newly opened ramp to I-630 westbound

The following new traffic patterns will take place after the weekend of Phase 1:

  • Opening Westbound Ramps
    • Broadway Street on-ramp in North Little Rock
    • 4th Street (downtown Little Rock) off-ramp (Exit 140)
    • I-630 westbound on-ramp from the southbound frontage road in Little Rock
  • Closing Temporary Westbound Ramps Used During Construction
    • Bishop Lindsey Avenue on-ramp in North Little Rock
    • 6th Street off-ramp in Little Rock

  • Traffic must decide to exit to downtown Little Rock or I-630 BEFORE crossing the river bridge; use the right or center lane to exit to downtown Little Rock or I-630; use the left or center lane to remain on I-30 westbound
