West South Street Overnight Ramp Closures Scheduled in Saline County

SALINE COUNTY | October 4, 2024
NR #24-320

Construction to widen Interstate 30 (I-30) to six lanes in Saline County requires multiple overnight ramp closures at the West South Street and frontage road interchanges north and south of I-30 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Monday, October 7 through Tuesday morning, October 22.

Weather permitting, crews will alternately close an individual West South Street ramp, Leander Street, or Bell Street for paving operations. No more than two ramps will be closed at the same time (one north of I-30 and one south of I-30). Traffic will be unable to use these ramps or streets during the closures and will follow the signed detours. See map NR 24-320-A for more information.

The following ramps and streets will alternately be closed, and detours will be signed as follows:

  • Frontage road ramp (south of I-30) to West South Street eastbound. Traffic will travel under the West South Street Bridge, take the loop ramp onto the West South Street Bridge, enter the roundabout, and return to West South Street eastbound.
  • Frontage road loop ramp (south of I-30) to West South Street Bridge. Traffic will take the on-ramp to I-30 East, take Exit 117 (Benton), return to I-30 West, and take Exit 116 (South and Sevier Streets).
  • West South Street eastbound loop ramp to the frontage road (south of I-30). Local traffic may use alternate adjacent roads to navigate around the closure.
  • West South Street westbound ramp (Leander Street) to the frontage road (south of I-30). Traffic will cross the West South Street Bridge, enter the roundabout, return to West South Street eastbound, and take the loop ramp to the frontage road.
  • Frontage road roundabout (north of I-30). Local traffic may use alternate adjacent roads to navigate around the closure.
  • West South Street (north of I-30). Local traffic may use alternate adjacent roads to navigate around the closure.
  • Bell Street (north of I-30). Local traffic may use alternate adjacent roads to navigate around the closure.

Traffic will be controlled with construction barrels, barricades, and signage. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.

This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
