Construction Requires Weekend Lane Closures on Interstate 630 in Little Rock

PULASKI COUNTY (12-13) – Construction to widen Interstate 630 requires double lane closures this weekend along with periodic 15-minute closures of all lanes in Little Rock, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
Weather permitting, crews will reduce eastbound and westbound traffic to one open lane in either direction between Mile Markers 4 and 7 (approximately Fair Park Boulevard and Baptist Health Drive). The double-lane closures will begin Saturday, December 15 at 7:00 a.m. and continue through Monday, December 17, at 6:00 a.m. Crews will work to shift westbound traffic toward the outside lanes while eastbound traffic will shift toward the inside lanes.
In addition, all lanes of traffic on I-630 will be stopped for 15-minute intervals during this time period to allow crews to tie into temporary ramps at Rodney Parham Road and John Barrow Road. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone, and drivers may consider finding alternate routes as delays will occur.
Traffic will be controlled using signage and barrels. Neighborhoods adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This project (Job CA0608) is part of ARDOT's Connecting Arkansas Program, which is funded through a 10-year, half-cent sales tax. Interstate 630 is being widened to four lanes in each direction (eight total) for 2.2 miles between the Big Rock Interchange and University Avenue.
